Thank U, Next: 7 Interior Design Trends That Are So Over in 2019

The new year is here and we want to help you stay up to date with the trendiest interior designs, that will keep your home hip in 2019. Design trends are tricky, some come and go quickly and others live on forever.

Here are 7 Interior designs that the experts say are ready to get out of your house in 2019.

    7. Gallery Walls

20 -piece photo collages on your walls have come to an end. Instead, have a bigger impact with one large photo that wows your guest. A wall full of small photos gets overlooked and fails to make an impression. This year do away with the clutter and make room for the big, impactful art.

    6. Industrial Kitchens

The time for cage lights, exposed pipes, and exposed beams in the kitchen is up. Industrial kitchen looks are not the warmest and inviting place for the heart of your home. Make the switch to lush, opulent hues in the kitchen such as deep greens and blues with dark woodwork.

    5. Boho Accessories

The macrame wall hangings, the waxy-fake succulents, and your Moroccan lanterns made a good run, but its time is up. If you can’t bring yourself to get rid of the gypsy soul vibe we suggest getting an authentic piece that reflects ethnic tradition, such as a kilim rug, and continue building your room around that.

    4. Wood Art

Even if you can live, laugh, and love with the best of them, it’s time to take those words off the wall. All the text art hung in the home that’s meant to be positive just turn out to be a little cheesy.

    3. Kitchen Islands

The experts are now sayings that clients are looking to abandon the kitchen island.  We don't blame them! Let's be honest, they are pretty easy to run into in the middle of the night. Instead of the missing island, try situating the dining table closer to the kitchen.

    2. Gray Everything

Neutral colors have been the go-to for so long they have started to feel tired out. 2019 is set to be all about the warmer tones - think sandy colors. Designers are moving away from the dull palette, and into colors that give the room a relaxing feel without boring your guest.

    1. Fur

We know Game of Thrones makes you feel like heading to the nearest Hobby Lobby and picking up a white fur throw. Stop now. Organic textures have overthrown the fur trend of 2018. Consider items that give you a home-made feel. This can be anything from a hand-sewn quilt to wicker-lounge chairs.

Juan got his start in the residential real estate market in 1994 and has never looked back. His mission is to provide excellence to his clients, and he is always looking for ways to improve the real estate experience for his clients and colleagues in the industry. Early in his real estate career, he worked as the Housing Rehabilitation Director for a national non-profit organization, Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA). His goal was to gain more knowledge of the construction and renovation of existing homes in conjunction with working with 1st-time buyers. He effectively managed over 25 residential construction project managers on the East & West coasts while implementing procedures to improve communication between contractors, property owners, and banking representatives. He also developed resources, designed processes, and organized all aspects of real estate property acquisition and renovation. Juan completed a home inspector licensing course on his way to becoming a licensed home inspector. But after completing 30 inspections as an apprentice observer, after crawling under numerous porches and “crawl spaces,” he decided it wasn’t his cup of tea. Juan has always had a sharp eye for market trends and an innate understanding of what his clients need. That’s why, as a top real estate agent in Boston, he is constantly ahead of the curve, anticipating changes in the market and helping his clients manage their real estate goals. His keen intellect, quick wit, and tireless work ethic make him an invaluable partner for anyone looking to buy or sell property in the Boston area (or via his referral partners worldwide). Although Real Estate is a large part of his life, it is not the only part. He loves hanging out with family and friends, being in the kitchen, enjoying great food, anything Apple or Cole Haan, gadgets, great cigars, F1, motorcycles, photography, and traveling (to name a few). He lives with integrity and tries not to take life too seriously.
